Our mission is to educate and equip civilians, law enforcement, and military personnel with the tools necessary to handle firearms safely and responsibly.
RYGT Origin Story
RYG Tactical ® was launched in the year of 2020 with the goals to equip and educate the masses, near and far. We desired to be able to influence the training space with "right" teaching and education. In our time of training, we have trained over 800 students in various capacities. We have influenced change in our communities by creating a safe space for individuals to become Self-Protectors.

Jaron R. Smith, widely recognized as Instructor Smitty, is the founder, lead instructor, and driving force behind RYG Tactical®. With extensive experience in firearms training, he has played a pivotal role in overseeing multiple church security teams and ministries, ensuring safety and preparedness in faith-based communities. His expertise is further reinforced by training alongside distinguished instructors nationwide and earning numerous certifications in firearms instruction and safety.

Currently serving as the Director of Training for the United 2A Collective, Jaron is a sought-after lecturer on critical topics such as firearms safety, Stop the Bleed trauma response, church security ministries, youth safety, and best practices in personal and organizational protection.

When asked about his journey, Jaron reflected: "Like many others, I launched a training company during the COVID pandemic. That year alone, over eight million individuals became firearm owners. I combined my background in hospitality and customer service with my passion for firearms to establish a company that prioritizes education, responsibility, and preparedness."

Regarding the unexpected growth of his ventures, he shared: "I initially planned to teach a few classes on weekends, but since launching RYG Tactical, I have expanded into multiple business areas, including consulting, firearms and suppressor manufacturing, and formal lecturing on comprehensive security topics."
​
A guiding principle in Jaron’s approach to safety is encapsulated in his favorite quote: "I have two places to be—home and the grocery store. It’s my choice, not the bad person’s."
